Province of Gelderland invests in Chip Integration Technology Centre
On the 19th of December the Provincial Council of Gelderland has decided in favor of public funding of the Chip Integration Technology Centre (CITC). The Province of Gelderland and the City of Nijmegen are investing 7.5 million and 2 million euros, respectively, over the upcoming 4 years. This public funding will be used, combined with the other (private) funds, to setup the centre and run the first innovation project in the CITC.
Working together towards an international position
A large number of organisations in the semiconductor-ecosystem (inside and outside the Nijmegen region) took the initiative of establishing CITC, led by Business Cluster Semiconductors (BCSEMI NL), Novio Tech Campus (NTC) and TNO (Holst). All parties are glad that both the Province of Gelderland and the City of Nijmegen have confirmed their financial commitment. CITC is of great value for the international positioning of the region as a place-to-be for chip integration. The innovation centre will attract talent and focus on innovations that will contribute in solving societal challenges. Over the past few months these partners have worked hard on the establishment of a strong portfolio of innovation-projects, so that on its opening, CITC is off to a flying start.
Talent development
An important challenge for the parties involved is the regional attraction of human capital. That is why CITC is also partnering up with knowledge institutes, like ROC Nijmegen, HAN, Radboud University and technical universities like TU Delft. Within the CITC, their goal is to realise new activities in the field of education and talent development.
CITC aims to open its doors in the second quarter of 2019. www.citc-netherlands.com
