High Tech NL Prepares for a Successful Participation at Semicon Taiwan 2024

From the 3rd to the 6th of September 2024, High Tech NL, alongside other prominent Dutch technology companies, will participate in the Semicon Taiwan trade show in Taipei. Under the theme ‘Breaking Limits: Powering the AI Era’, Semicon Taiwan will showcase how the rise of artificial intelligence is impacting the semiconductor industry. This year, the trade show promises to be bigger and more impressive than ever before, with a record number of over 1,100 exhibitors spread across 3,700 stands. Micha Tahar from High Tech NL will be present throughout the entire event. In this article, he shares more about what to expect at the trade show, the role of High Tech NL, and future plans.

A Platform for Innovation and Networking

Micha Tahar explains: “This year, High Tech NL is again responsible for a Dutch pavilion at Semicon Taiwan, where we are giving nine Dutch tech companies the opportunity to present themselves to a large international audience. Participating in Semicon Taiwan provides Dutch companies with a platform not only to showcase their technologies and innovations but also to establish valuable connections with Taiwanese and international partners.

“An amusing detail is that at the Dutch pavilion, we are trying to create a real Dutch atmosphere with the presence of a live stroopwafel baker and Heineken beers.”

We are organising Semicon Taiwan in collaboration with Silicon Saxony, the German industry association; they will be located next to us at the trade show. This valuable partnership not only ensures a central location on the exhibition floor but also provides good visibility for both Dutch and German high-tech companies.

New this year is that each participant in the pavilion will have their own booth, which is a significant improvement compared to previous years when one booth had to be shared among several companies. With their own booth, companies like Tempress and Boschman can make optimal use of their space and effectively present their products.”

Impressive Program

As in previous years, Semicon Taiwan has once again prepared a packed programme. The participating companies will start on Tuesday with a welcome dinner. That same evening, there will be a Thai Night Market, where participants will have the opportunity to get to know each other.

The next day, on Wednesday morning, the official opening will take place; the ribbon will be cut by the organisers of Semicon Taiwan, and the trade show will officially begin. On that first day, we will also participate in a booth tour of the exhibition floor, organised by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), followed by a reception later in the day where there will be an opportunity to meet potential customers.

On Thursday evening, we will also offer companies the chance to further connect with each other during a social business drink, accompanied by some delicious food and drinks. The Dutch group from the Innovation Mission organised by the RVO, consisting of companies and professors from Dutch universities, will also join us. This mission focuses on exploring collaboration opportunities with local Taiwanese companies and knowledge institutions. The event offers a unique chance to network, share knowledge, and explore new markets.

“Additionally, we are organising a conference where all participants of the Holland Pavilion will give a 15-minute presentation about their own company. To conclude this session, I will give a presentation on behalf of High Tech NL. After the presentations, there will be a joint lunch. Following this, we are organising a matchmaking event in collaboration with a specialised matchmaking consultant. Companies have indicated in advance who they would like to connect with during the fair, often potential Taiwanese partners. Our matchmaker is currently busy connecting the right people, so they can have valuable one-on-one conversations during the event,” Micha explains.

Looking Ahead to the Future

The positive response from Dutch companies to participating in Semicon Taiwan meant that the slots for the Holland Pavilion were fully booked within two months. Micha Tahar even hints at a larger participation next year: “We are considering bringing an even bigger delegation next year.”

The Dutch semiconductor ecosystem is crucial for the technological advancement and economic growth of our country. The Netherlands has established itself as a world leader in semiconductors. In this context, participating in events like Semicon Taiwan this coming September is of great importance. By actively participating, Dutch companies can enhance their international visibility and explore new business opportunities that will further strengthen our ecosystem.

Conclusion

Participation in Semicon Taiwan 2024 promises to be a significant step for the Dutch high-tech sector. With a strong presence at the fair, strategic collaborations, and a focus on innovation, High Tech NL is ready to put Dutch technology on the global map. As Micha Tahar puts it well: “It is a must to be here. This is the place to network and further strengthen ties with our Asian partners.”
