The use of electronics has increased exponentially in recent decades. In addition, in recent years there has been a clear trend of electrification of more and more products and processes. With the aim of making the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. However, this leads to a huge increase in battery use. After use, these batteries often end up in (residual) waste streams, where they are difficult to separate from other materials. But the most important - growing - problem is the safety of collection and processing of waste streams containing batteries; the risk of fire and hazardous situations is becoming unacceptably high.

Batteries are a difficult material stream to recognize since because of their shape but also because they are contained in different products. The high speed of the processing line (20-40 tons/hour), the dispersion on the conveyor belt and the exposure of the separation process affect adequate recognition and disposal of batteries. Today, a large proportion of batteries still end up in subsequent treatment processes where they create fire and explosion hazards. Renewi is therefore looking for a way to recognize and remove these batteries from the material stream at the front end of the treatment process.

We therefore invite you to the online inventory meeting on Sept. 26 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.

During this interactive session, we will work with you to look at appropriate angles and project opportunities how (your) technological developments can contribute to the challenges at Renewi.

Has your company already developed a specific (partial) solution or do you have a different angle? If so, we would like to give you the stage during this session. Please contact Elvis Bajric for this(elvis.bajric@hightechnl.nl or 06-19912193).
